Sell Digital Products: New marketplace for creators

Selling digital products used to be upload a file and hope it sells, but creators now need a full system, services, order tracking, and clean delivery in one flow.

This marketplace update turns a simple store into a service ready business, so creators can sell downloads and also sell their expertise without duct-taping tools together.

What’s new (high level)

This release adds two big product types and the workflows behind them:

  1. License key products for software, plugins, themes, and activations

  2. Service products for done-for you work with order status, delivery, and revisions.

  3. And of course, selling digital products such as books, courses, or anything else you want.

How do the new digital product selling features work?

License key products (sell software the smart way)

If a product needs activation, license keys should be automatic not manual emails and spreadsheets. Now creators can generate or upload keys in bulk, and the system assigns a unique key instantly after a successful purchase.

What buyers get?

  • Immediate access to the key after checkout.

  • One-click copy plus secure reveal/hide.

  • Permanent access inside their account (so keys don’t get lost).

What creators control!!

  • Custom key formats (whatever pattern fits the product).

  • Import from CSV/text when migrating existing inventories.

  • Real-time stock tracking (available vs sold vs revoked).

  • Key revocation for refunds, abuse, or policy violations.

Service products (turn skills into a product)

This update also lets creators package services like a real catalog item, not a “DM me” offer.

  • Logo design with delivery time.

  • Code review with revision limits.

  • Consultation sessions by hour.

  • Custom illustration with a requirements form.

The service order lifecycle

A service purchase creates a trackable order that moves through clear statuses: Pending → In progress → Delivered → Completed. Revision requested (when the buyer asks for changes, up to the creator’s limit)

This creates a clean “start-work / deliver / review / finalize” flow that protects both sides and keeps expectations clear.

Technical notes (for trust)

This system typically relies on clear data separation license key inventory on one side and service orders on the other so reporting and automation stay reliable. Payments can trigger automated fulfillment through payment webhooks: successful charge → create purchase record → assign key or create service order → notify buyer and creator.

Real-time updates (via WebSockets) make order changes feel instant, which removes the refresh the page friction during delivery and revision cycles.

Getting started (creator + buyer)

For creators

  • Create a product and choose the type: License Key or Service.

  • Set price, delivery timing, and revision policy (for services).

  • Add a requirements template so buyers submit the right info upfront.

  • Publish, then manage everything from the dashboard.

For buyers

  • Purchase the product (license key or service).

  • For services, submit requirements right after checkout.

  • Track progress, review delivery, and either approve or request revisions.
